shall not be mixed with dry seed. The fertilizer mixture shall contain the <br />following percentages. <br />1. 18 percent phosphorus <br />2. 46 percent nitrates <br />3. 0 percent potassium <br />D. Mulching -The Contractor shall furnish, uniformly place, and stabilize mulch <br />within 24 hours after seeding a minimum of 2.5 tons per acre of air dry hay or <br />1.5 tons per acre of air dry straw on all portions of the seeded areas requiring <br />mulch. Mulch material shall be reasonably free of mold or other evidence of <br />decomposition and weed seed. Seventy-five percent of the mulch material in <br />place shall exceed 12 inches in length. Mulching material shall not be applied, <br />when, in the judgment of the Engineer, the wind velocity is such as to prevent <br />uniform distribution of the material. Mulch material may be spread by hand or <br />by blower. <br />E. Providing Water for Seeded Areas -After completion of seeding operations, <br />sufficient water to the seeded areas shall be supplied to ensure successful seed <br />germination and to ensure that an acceptable stand of grass is established. Any <br />erosion resulting from the Contractor's irrigation operations shall be immediately <br />repaired and reseeded at the Contractor's expense to a condition approved by <br />the Engineer. <br />F. Schedule -Sowing shall not be done when weather conditions are prohibitive to <br />sowing. The areas that require seeding shall be seeded between March 1 and <br />May 15 and August 1 and October 15. <br />G. Any additional seedbed preparations required shall be at the expense of the <br />Contractor. <br />H. All permanently exposed surfaces, to be reclaimed, shall be seeded as soon as <br />possible after completion of work in an area and within the time limits given <br />above. <br />- END OF SECTION 02901 - <br />END OF DIVISION 2 <br />W.
