Adequacy Review Joker Mine Amendment

Dear Mr. Saletta:
On February 28 , 1985 , the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation
Board found Marathon Gold Corporation in violation of Permit
No. 83-52 . The CMLR Board assessed a civil penalty of $1000 . 00 .
According, enclosed is Marathon Gold Corporation check number
2036 in the amount of $1000. 00
On February 25 , 1985, we received your adequacy review
of the Joker Mine Amendment. You requested additional information
regarding certain items , and commented upon others. Our response
follows.
A typical ( composite ) sample of detoxified cyanide
process material will be analyzed for total cyanide, free cyanide,
sulfate , and chloride . The results of such analysis will be
submitted to the Division with the annual report.
Regarding our choice of liner material for the laboratory
waste disposal site, the elasticized polyolefin (E.P. ) material
specified in the amendment is superior in performance to hypalon.
However, hypalon is less costly and more readily available than
E. P. We therefore agree to accept your recommendation to use
hypalon. The amendment application is revised according.
Your inspection report of November 30 , 1984 requests
that we analyze water quality samples for CN total free . We
will analyze water quality samples for both total CN and free
CN as per your request in the adequacy review.
