This letter is issued incompliance with Rule 5.03.2(1)(d) of [he Regulations of the Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Boazd for Coal Mining. The rule requires that the Division of
Minerals and Geology (DMG) notify all listed owners and controllers of any coal mine permittee
issued a cessation order (CO), within 60 days of issuance of the CO.
You are listed as an owner/controller of Powderhorn Coal Company, and are hereby notified that
DMG issued Failtue to Abate Cessation Order (FTA-CO) CO-98-001 [o Powderhorn Coal
Company for operations at the Roadside North and South Portals Mine (Permit No. C-81-041),
on January 21, 1998. The CO was issued for failure to abate Notice of Violation C-97-016. The
CO was successfully abated, and was terminated on January 23, 1998.
