Pavlik:
In reference to our telephone conversation on February 2B, 1994
and, as per your request, please find attached a sketch of RP-4
layout.
The diversion ditches currently in use are located along the toe of
the refuse pile, diverting the drainage from the refuse material to
the pond as well as any run-off outside the pile. These diversion
ditches are relocated outward ae the refuse pile is enlarged.
The concern we have of installing permanent diversion ditches with
check dame at thin time is that these ditches need to be located
along the final toe of the refuse pile at completion so that they
are~not as likely to fill up with refuse sediment and can be
utilized as intended.
We currently clean out and or relocate the diversion ditches
monthly.
The diversion ditches originally constructed were located along the
perimeter of the disturbed area and should not be used for
permanent diversion of the Final refuse pile. '
We would like to request utilization of temporary diversion ditches
as are currently in uea and postpone the installation of permanent
diversion ditches with cobblestone check dams until completion of
the refuse pile.
Deeerndo Mine
P.O.
