As a response to your ruluust
for a written action plan to address the Division's intmcdiate concerns, Colorado Marble,
Inc., proposes the following action items be undertaken immediately at the situ.
1) Taylor Gulch-sediments from marble scrcuning operations naw located within
Tuylnr Gulch will be removed from the: drainage and placed in Che pit area. A
best effort will be made to grade back to the original surface horizon. An
estimated up to 3UU cubic yards of material may be handled in dti5 task.
2) Taylor Gulch Drainage vs. mine site drainage--- 'I-aylor Gulch drainage mull he
kept separate from mine site drainage via rc-grading of mine staging areas that
allow mine an:a run-off into'I'aylor Gulch drainage. This includes the public
access road crossing'I'aylor Gulch along the eastern side of the disturbed land
area. 'T'his road crossing will be modified to allow for unrestricu~d (low of'fuylor
Gulch through this area without moving through processed fines materials attd
carrying the fine sediment into Taylor Gulch.
3) 'fhe sediment trap structure; constructed in 'T'aylor Ciule:h last 1x11 will be
maintained in plan: for the present time, but should not be considered a
permanent structure;. The existing structure will be; removed from Taylor Gulch
as soon as the drainage and sedimentation concerns immediately up-gradient an:
addn:sscd and pmving to be effex;tive in eliminating sedimentation into Taylor
Gulch. Sediment controls along the: southern poninn of the o13'ected land will be
uddrersed in the pennli amendment. The preferred plan for'faylor Gulch lung
ternt is for unrestricted flow throughout all reaches of the rninc site.
