In reference to item No. 1 of your letter, the term wet mining or
dry mining generally refers to whether or not the operator will dewater
the pit in order to extract the mineral. If you wish to incorporate a
wash plant, please provide a map portraying the wash plant location and
the location of the settling pond. Also, please describe the pond
size, depth, and construction, where the water will originate from and
whether or not the operator has the water rights adjudicated to this
industrial use. Will the operator obtain an NPDES permit from the
Department of Health for discharging water to Plum Creek?
B. In reference to item No. 2, where will topsoil stockpiles be located
during mining? What will the operator seed the topsoil piles with?
C. In reference to item No. 3, please portray the undisturbed setback
on the map which you are to submit under my item A.
I look forward to hearing from you shortly. Please feel free to contact me if
there are any questions.
Sincerely,
James 6.
