EXHIBIT G-1 - WATER INFORMATION NARRATIVE <br /> Included in this section of the application, is a brief description of existing groundwater conditions <br /> in the area, and a summary of the probable effect the mining operation will have on the groundwater <br /> conditions in the area, and a list of the well owners in the area that was included in the original permit <br /> application. In addition, on EXHIBIT C-113, PRE-MINING MAP, the locations of surface water <br /> features(EXHIBIT G-2), and on EXHIBIT G-3, WELL LOCATION MAP, the surrounding shallow <br /> well locations are shown. These map exhibits were also not changed with this amended application, <br /> except for making the appropriate "tense" changes to reflect the mining operation has commenced. <br /> Most of the text and information were developed by Hatton Water Consultants, who where also be <br /> responsible for contacting nearby well owners. "Nearby" is defined as those alluvial well owners <br /> within 600 feet of the proposed operation. <br /> Added to this section of the application, is a copy of the Substitute Supply Plan and other <br /> correspondence from Hatton Water Consultants that were prepared prior to mining being undertaken. <br /> The addition of 10±acres of area is not expected to change either the original water information, nor <br /> the substitute water supply plan in any substantial manner. <br /> Introduction <br /> The mining operation is located in the alluvial plain of the South Platte River. The alluvial deposit <br /> averages approximately 30 feet in thickness. The pit will be surrounded by a slurry wall, except the <br /> portion east of the Bull Seep Ditch. Water levels in the aquifer are not expected to decline since the <br /> area east of the Bull Seep Ditch will be wet mined, and no drawdown will occur at the pit. it is <br /> anticipated that the water wells in the area will be able to withdraw their permitted amounts. Prior <br /> to mining being undertaken, the area west of the Bull Seep Ditch had a slurry wall installed around <br /> the outside perimeter, thereby allowing no off-site drawdown of the aquifer. The operator will <br /> comply with relevant laws and directives of the Colorado Division of Water resources in regard to <br /> the administration of water rights, and the adjacent well owners will have recourse to the Division <br /> of Water Resources and other State processes that have been set up to resolve groundwater disputes, <br /> in case they feel the proposed operation has damaged their ability to Pump. <br /> Surface Water System <br /> The mining operation is located between the east bank of the South Platte River immediately <br /> upstream of the headgate to the Fulton Ditch. Portions of the property lies within the 100 year <br /> floodplain of the South Platte River. The area consists of irrigated and non-irrigated farmland. <br /> Irrigation water has been provided by alluvial wells on the property. These wells will be abandoned <br /> as a result of mining. The Bull Seep traverses the eastern portion of the property. This ditch drains <br /> surface water and spring water from the terraces to the east. The ditch empties into the Fulton Ditch <br /> approximately one mile northeast of the property. The drainage water from the property will be <br /> routed to sediment ponds created by the mining. No adverse impact to the surface water system is <br /> expected. <br /> Page 1, EXHBIT G-1 <br />
