EXHIBIT D -MINING PLAN NARRATIVE (CONTINUED)
To summarize, topsoil/overburden material will be stockpiled in the following amounts and for the
following afteruse as outlined below. The only change from the original plan is that
topsoil/overburden material storage may occur along the east, south, and north boundaries of the 10+
acre area added to the permit area, instead of along the original permit boundary abutting the
additional area. No additional topsoil/burden material volume is required, as the external periphery
area that will be revegetated remains essentially the same.
Area I - 8,000+ cubic yards for revegetation of the are for future use as open space or farming.
The stored material will be combined with the stored material from Area 213, and
stored along the east side of this area and along east and south sides of Area 2B as
shown on EXMIT C-2„ MINING PLAN MAP.
Periphery - 8,OOOt cubic yards for reserve to revegetate the 8,500t lineal footage x(Areas 2A &
B) 25t' wide periphery areas. The periphery areas will generally be revegetated from
the stripping of subsequent phases, but retaining this reserve assures that there always
will be sufficient topsoil to complete revegetation. Upon completion of all phases,
any excess remaining topsoil/surface material would be sold.
Area 2C - 55,000+cubic yards for revegetation of up to 34t acres of potential backfill area. As
with the periphery topsoil/surface material stockpile, any excess remaining will be
sold.
All stockpiles will be revegetated using a grass drill seeded, where possible, with Fairway Wheatgrass
at a rate of 6 pounds per acre pure live seed. The rate shall be doubled if broadcast seeded. After
the initial seeding, the stockpile may also be seeded with either wheat or forage sorghum, More exact
standards on stockpile revegetation may be found in the letter in EXIIIBIT I/J -
SOILS/VEGETATION INFORMATION.
Backfilling of Area l and all or portions of Area 2C will be accomplished in accordance with
standards approved by the Colorado Department of Health. Only sand spoils from the site will be
utilized in the water and within 5' of the proposed highest water elevation. Above the 5' proposed
water level, clean inert fill may be utilized. If clean inert fill is utilized, a Certificate of Designation
will be obtained from the Colorado Department of Health defining the type of material, the screening
and handling of the material, the placement and other operational aspects of such filling, and any
required post-closure monitoring and care of the filled area. Prior to the use of such clean inert fill
material, the Division of Minerals and Geology will be supplied with copies of the approved
Certificate of Designation.
Page 5, EXHBIT D
