The area ie
deeply incised by erosion and is used for grazing. The mining area will be the
sandy ridge between the gullies.
The project has fairly good ground cover consisting primarily of buffalo grass with
a mix of blue gramma as well as yucca and cacti.
The gullies are home to good deer population. Other species include, coyote, fox,
badgez, weasel, skunk, rabbits, raccoons, pheasant, dove, quail, magpie, raptors and
numerous seasonal songbirds ae well ae many small rodents.
Even with the variety of wildlife found in the area, negative impacts to wildlife
should not be serious as the ridge that will be mined has very little cover, other
than buffalo grass.
Sine sly,
Don Bogart ~,~~~~~~
Environmental Biologist
cc: Moss
Budde
Trujillo
Attachment
RECE ~ ~J~ :,.
NOV 131992
DlviSn ~„ , .
fv11NERNLS g AEI, ... .
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, Kenneth Salezer, Executive Director
WILDI.IFB COMMISSION, Eldon W.
