Water, Waste & Land, Inc. Statement of qualifications
• 11 •
Twentymile Park Project (Getty Oil Company) Oak Creek, Colorado
Water, Waste & Land, Inc. conducted a study of ground water hydrology in the
vicinity of a proposed underground coal mine. The existing flow regime was characterized
and included in a model, which accounted for mining sequences and changes that would
occur to the regional and local piezometric surface. Impacts on mine inflow and the
hydrologic environment were identified.
Purgatoire River Project (C F & I Steel Company) Trinidad, Colorado
Surface and ground water characterization studies were conducted o~Yer a five-mile
segment of the Purgatoire River. Five monitoring wells were designed and installed in the
river valley alluvium and contiguous bedrock. Aquifer tests were cohducted and
interpreted and water quality was analyzed. Geologic investigations were Undertaken to
aid in determining flow regimes. The results of the surface and ground water
characterization study were interpreted to provide predictions of potential adverse
environmental impacts to regional and local water resources.
Keenesburg Mine Project (Coors Energy Company) Keenesburg, Colorado
Water, Waste & Land, Inc. designed and installed twenty-one monitoring wells in
an area proposed for a strip coal mine. Aquifer tests were conducted and int@rpreted, and
water quality samples were collected and analyzed. Predictions of impadt to ground
water were made along with recommendations for the mitigation of thdse potential
impacts. Annual water quality sampling and analysis programs were dbsigned and
implemented.
Darwin Project iAnaconda Minerals Company) Darwin, California
Water, Waste & Land, Inc. conducted pump tests and analyses of Water supply
conditions for a tailings heap leach operation in the Mojave Desert. A slmall alluvial
aquifer was evaluated for makeup water production and other potential water sources
were investigated.
Shirley Basin Mine (Pathfinder Mines Corporation) Shirley Basin, Wyoming
Water, Waste & Land, Inc. conducted a study to characterize the subsurface
hydrologic environment at an existing uranium tailings impoundment. The study included
drilling, pump testing, piezometer installation, and water level and water quality
monitoring. We also made an evaluation of the stability of tailings impoundment
embankments at the site and developed a program for monitoring stability, including
periodic training of company personnel in the operation of the program.
