Item No. I, under
Problems/Possible Violations and Corrective Actions in your report, notes that water was impounded in
the concre:[e storage area, and that either a technical revision was to be submitted or the water drained
from that .area.
In my letter to you dated May 12, 2000, l advised that the water would be drained when we could make
arrangements to bring a crusher in to crush the scrap concrete. A pump was installed at the east end of the
storage area in early June, and water is being pumped into the pond to the east. The majority of the water
has been drained, and the pump continues to operate and dewater this area.
A crusher has been brought onto the site, and the majority of the concrete has been crushed. The crushed
concrete is stockpiled on higher ground southeast of the storage area. 1 anticipate that all of the scrap
concrete in the area noted on your report will be removed and crushed within the next week or two. An
area to tht: south of the crushed concrete stockpiles has been designated for storage of any scrap concrete
brought onto the site in the future. This newly designated area will not impound water.
For your reference, 1 am enclosing pictures of [he storage area noted in your report, the crusher and
crushed concrete stockpiles. These pictures were taken during my inspection of the site on June 29, 2000.
If these corrective measures meet with your approval, I would appreciate written notice that the corrective
Aggregate Industries
West Csntr~l Region, Inc.
