~ • • 1 SECTION 5.0 EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION 5.1 pH ADJIISTMENT TANK (04-TR-09) The tank is constructed of steel and lined wii~h rubber to resist abrasion. The tank is fitted with a co er, through -~ which the four air sparge pipes are sealed. he agitator shaft passes through the cover, and is sealed to it by a close-fitting rubber diaphragm. A sleeve att ched to the cover and surrounding the shaft extends down t the static slurry level in the tank to further limit the possibility ` of leakage of qas. 5.2 CARBON BAFETY SCREEN (04-BC-10) • The Carbon Safety Screen is totally enclos~d, and the - enclosure vented to the Fume Scrubber via he ducting system. The feed inlet pipe from the pH Adjust ent Tank to the screen is sealed to the screen enclosure. O ersize from _ the screen discharges via a pipe to a drum at g ound level. The drum is. fitted with_a rubber lid,_through which the pipe is 'seed. The screen underflow is collected in a sealed ~ underpan from which it flows in a pipe to he Tailings Hopper. 5.3 TAILINGS HOPPER (04-HP-02) The Tailings Hopper is covered, and all pipe enetrations "' through the cover are sealed. The hopper is fi ted with an overflow pipe which discharges into the Thicken r Area Sump, outside the building.
