On August 16, 1984, Scott Jones and I
checked the compliance of the refuse sedimentation dam with the
necessary survey instruments.
The specifications call for an elevation difference of 6.6
feet between the centerline of the outlet hole of the principal
spillway and the top of the dam. Our survey showed this elevation
difference to be 6.3 feet. I believe you would agree that this
is within acceptable limits for a dam of this size.
The specifications call for an elevation difference of 12.6
feet between the bottom of the pond near the emergency spillway
and the top of the dam. Our survey showed this difference to be
12.1 feet. Due to variations in the bottom of the pond, this
difference can vary plus or minus 0.5 feet by moving the rod from
place to place. Therefore, I feel that this is within acceptable
limits.
As for the emergency spillway, the specifications call for
the top to be 19 feet, 4 inches wide and the bottom to be 13 feet,
4 inches wide. Our survey work showed the emergency spillway
meets these specifications as written.
If you have any questions or require further information,
please don't hesitate to call.
Sincer
Michael R.
