(Lafarge) is requesting a Technical Revision (TR) to our permit
for our Bunn Ranch pit located near Craig, Colorado in Moffat County. The TR is in response to damage
caused to the berm of the eastern most pit during high-water flows on the Yampa River last spring. This
requested TR constitutes [he second part of the work discussed and agreed to during your site visit in
October 2003. The first part of the corrective work involved repair to the Yampa River bank and adjacent
landowner property. This work was completed in November 2003 and detailed in my correspondence of
December 4, 2003. The second part involves the addition of an inlet and outlet structure to the eastern
most pit in order to prevent a similar conditions in future high-water times. The second part has involved
the engineering of the inlet and outlet structures to accommodate the anticipated high-water flows
associated with a 24-hour, 100-year event. Johnson, Kunkel and Associates, Inc. of Eagle Colorado
completed the design of the inlet and outlet structures. The final design is attached as Appendix A for
your review and approval. As outlined in our previous correspondence, assuming that you aze in
agreement with the design and provide timely approval, Lafarge will complete the installation of the
structures prior to March 31, 2003,
Due to recent snows, Lafarge still has not completed a complete topographic survey of the site. It is still
our intention to complete the new topographic survey as soon as conditions allow. I will forward a copy
of the revised topographic map to you as soon as it is available.
Should you have any questions regarding our request, please contact my office at 303-657-4336.
Sincerely,
G~
John W.
