<br /> <br />Battle Mountain Gold <br />NOV Abatement Requirements <br />page 2 <br />t4) Tailings Cyanide Detoxification: <br />BMG shall develop and submit a plan for cyanide detoxification of the <br />entire slurry and liquid contents of the tailings impoundment as soon as <br />possible for review and approval by the Division. This plan shall be <br />submitted as a technical revision application. This application shall <br />include a schedule for implementation. Following approval of dhis <br />technical revision, BMG shall implement the treatment method in <br />accordance with the plan. Appropriate frequency and distribution of <br />monitoring of the tailings and plant circuit shall be proposed (within the <br />application and subsequently conducted to verify the progress and success <br />of the remedial treatment. Monitoring results, covered by an appropriate <br />cover letter report shall be submitted to the Division weekly d ring the <br />detoxification program. <br />BMG will be permitted to operate the processing plant, includin the <br />introduction of unprocessed ore, until the projected tailings q ality has <br />been achieved. At that point in time BMG will cease operation f the <br />plant pending approval to recommence operation by the Division. <br />Monitoring of cyanide levels within the tailings slurry and liq id Shall <br />continue to verify the anticipated decay of cyanide levels foil wing the <br />cessation of the detoxification program, until cessation is app oved by <br />the Division. <br />The introduction of chemical compounds into the processing circ it to <br />affect an immediate remedy of the tailings cyanide problem cou p <br />potentially create additional problems by amending the chemical <br />constituency of the tailings. The Division cautions BMG that i will be <br />held responsible for any unanticipated results of its remedial ctions. <br />Status: Partially Satisfied <br />- BMG submitted T.R. Application on April 3, 1992. <br />- Division approved the T.R. on April 7, 199 with <br />three stipulations. One has been satisfie . <br />MLRB Amendment: The Division shall report tailings treatment p~}ogress <br />to the Board during their May 27-28 and June 24-25, 1992 r~eetings. <br />Tailings CYTOX detoxification approved under Technical Recision <br />TR-004 shall cease June 24, 1992. <br />Deadlines: Submit progress reports to the Division by May 25 ar-d <br />June 22, 1992. <br />Division will report status to Board May 27 and Junk 24, 1992. <br />Cessation of CYTOX treatment no later than June 24, 1992. <br />Duration: Board amended final CYTOX treatment deadline is June24, 1992. <br />
