Both the plastic bottles and the glass bottles need to have <br />screw caps. All bottles are to be thorou;hly cleaned before the sample is placed in them. Those sample <br />bottles for parameters for acidification is needed may already have the acid in them. Do not throw the acid <br />out of the bottles. <br />For the benefit of some. permittees who aze new to dischazge permits, the Division has added this paragraph <br />of discussion of BODs saznpling. 'T'he sample for BOD, at the influent to the treatment facility is a composite <br />sample. A "composite sample" is defined as a minimtun of four (4) drab samples collected at equally spaced <br />±wo (2) hour intervals and proponioned according to flow: <br />- Sample bottles are to be labeled_ The label is to affixed to each sample with the following information: <br />Location or identification of the sample site, i.e., 3001 or OSOA, O~OB,etc <br />Dale and time of collec*.ion; <br />Name of sampler; <br />Type of analysis to be performed on the sample; <br />Indicate whether sample was filtered and/or whether acid was added. <br />
