June 24, 2003 -32- 003-2203.7
• Documentation of the repairs and vacuum tests are reported in the Phase Nb PSSA seam, defect and
testing logs presented in Appendix K.
On June 2, 2003, a CAT D9 dozer damaged the upper 100-mil smooth geomembrane in the northeast
corner of the Phase Nb PSSA. Ames removed DCF, and Golder inspected the geomembrane and
identified any damaged material. PF repaired and vacuum tested the damaged geomembrane on
June 4, 2003. Documentation of the repairs and tests are reported in the Phase IVb PSSA seam,
defect and testing logs presented in Appendix L.
4.2.10 Select Drain Cover Fill
Golder provided visual monitoring of SDCF placement. One Golder monitor and at least one Ames
laborer was present monitoring each piece of equipment as it placed material around the High
Volume Solution Collection risers. Golder verified that the compression joints in the risers were
maintained in extension as SDCF placement occurred, a minimum area of 3 feet was placed around
the riser extents, that no damage was caused to the riser piping as SDCF was placed, and that
. unsuitable material was not present in the fill. Golder continuously inspected riser piping during
SDCF placement, and marked areas for repair if required.
4.2.11 Temperature Monitoring
Golder monitored ambient air temperatures using a HOBO Pro Series data logging thermometer.
Temperatures were measured every 30 minutes. The lowest and highest daily temperatures are
summarized in Table 2.
During placement of SF, when the ambient air temperature was less than 32°F for longer than 1 hour
in the previous 24 hours, Golder was required to monitor the fill temperatures at depths of 3 inches
and 6 inches, at a frequency of 6 tests per acre, and calculate the average fill temperature from the
lower temperature of the 3-inch and 6-inch tests. SF was placed throughout the spring and summer of
2002 when temperatures were greater than 32°F; therefore, no SF temperature monitoring occurred
during the construction of the Phase Nb PSSA.
•
I:\W@303\Oi00\Fo1CetlP55A0 6 0310 03 2 2W.W00.OJ3J3liepAOC Golder Associates
