RE: ROCK DRAIN NEAR THE PHASE IVB SUMP

Golder Associates Inc. has prepared this letter for the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
(CC&V) documenting the construction of a rock drain within the Phase Nb PSSA sump.
On October 19, 2002 Ames Construction, Inc. (Ames) was directed to install a rock drain near the
Phase TVb PSSA sump to drain an intermittent seep. Ames excavated a 3' wide by 2' deep by 40'
long subgrade trench along the 2H:1V slope just above the PSSA sump azea. The trench was
connected to a 14' deep by 4' squaze sump (see Figure 1, attached). The trench and sump were
backfilled with Underdrain Fill (LJF). The trench and sump were then covered with approximately 1'
of compacted Structural Fill (SF).
Golder observed construction of the rock drain. Ames excavated the trench and sump, and placed OF
and SF in accordance to the Certifying Engineers' requirements.
