Our2;:go Field ~~
pi.isian at :1'ir.>~:is ~ GoolagY
Sara E. Wynes
Marcus J. Lock
Pursuant to our telephone conversation on May 20, 2004, I am writing to you on behalf of
my clients, Norma and Eugene Baker, regarding actions taken by the Town of Lake City along Water
Street last fall. Although the Town contends it was simply widening Water Street, we believe the
Town also had another purpose-the mining of shale from the property alongside the roadway.
Consequently, the Bakers believe that the Town should have obtained a mining permit and submitted
a plan for reclaiming the hillside, which was left in an unstable condition.
To assist you in your investigation, we provide you with the following information:
A. Name and address of parties requesting investigation:
Eugene and Norma Baker
1512 Pearl
Duncan, Oklahoma 73533
and, during the summer,
243 Morningside Drive
Lake City, Colorado 81235
Attorney: Nancy Bentson Essex
Bratton & McClow, LLC
232 W.
