JUN 01 '95 01 ~ 16PM PERBODY WSTN SENECA MINE III IIIIII I III'II'll P 2
ass
E~ NEC.4
Coal Company Seneca Coal Company
June 1, 1995
Ms. Erica Crosby
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203-2273
RE: Seneca II Mine Permit C-80-005, MR45
Dear Ms. Crosby:
Enclosed please find three copies of an application for MR45 to the
Seneca II Mine Permit C-80-005. This minor revision requests a
slight change to the mining and reclamation disturbance boundary
near Auger Area E. It also contains the design for the sediment
control needed for this additional disturbance area. This revision
was required as part of the abatement of NOV C-95-014.
The additional disturbance area had topsoil windrowed on it to
allow for the construction of the postmine slope in the Auger Area
E final pit. This additional disturbance resulted in the addition
of 1.0 acres to the existing mining and reclamation disturbance
boundary. This area does not drain co a sedimentation pond. There
are approximately 3,300 acres of drainage area that are contained
by four sedimentation ponds currently within the Seneca II Mine
permit boundary. Because this is such a minimal area we are asking
that this site be considered a Small Area Exemption. Silt fence was
installed immediately upon receiving the violation to contain any
sediment within the disturbance area. The topsoil that is currently
stockpiled will be hauled for replacement as soon as conditions
allow and the area will be revegetaced immediately according to the
approved plan. The silt fence will remain until vegetation is
established and the Division feels it is no longer necessary.
An 8~4" X 11" xerox copy of Exhibit "12-1", Operations Plan, is
enclosed showing the location of the proposed addition to the
disturbance boundary. Due to some computer equipment problems in
the Flagstaff office, the revision to the exhibit has not been able
to be completed yet. As soon as the change is made we will forward
the actual exhibit to you. I apologize for any inconvenience this
may cause.
Enclosed are the required application form, insertion instructions
into the PAP, and the revised text. Should you or any other members
of the Division have any questions regarding this information,
please do not hesitate to contact me.
Seneca Coal Company • P.O.
