<br />B-1.10 Sample Handling and Chain-of-Custody <br />The samples will be prepared, labeled, stored, and shipped in accordance with the procedures specified <br />below. <br />B-1.10.1 Sample Containers and Sample Labeling <br />The samples will be placed in pre-clean sample bottles supplied by the laboratory that include the <br />appropriate preservative (if required). The surface water samples will be placed in sample containers <br />provided by the analytical laboratory. Containers are expected to be pre-cleaned by the laboratory and <br />shipped sealed and ready for use. At a minimum, the sample bottles will be labeled with the sample <br />number, sample date and time, and sampler name at each sample location. <br />Sample containers are labeled with a label firmly attached to the container side (not lid). The following <br />information is to be legibly and indelibly written on the sample label attached to the sample container <br />side: <br />• project or facility name (including project number), <br />• sample type, <br />• sample location number, <br />• sampling date and time, and <br />• sample collector's name or initials. <br />B-1.10,2 Sample Preservation <br />After collection, the samples will placed in a cooler with blue ice and maintained at approximately 4° <br />Centigrade (C) until delivered to the analytical laboratory. <br />B-1.10.3 Sampling Records <br />To provide complete documentation of on-site aspects of the sampling episode, a detailed sampling <br />record is [o be prepared for samples. These records will include [he following information: <br />• sample location, including facility name and sample number or well number, <br />• date and time of sampling, <br />• sampler's identification, <br />weather conditions, <br />• sample description (including type and volume). <br />• sampling method, <br />
