Mr. Kent Gorham
November 16, 1994
Page 17
this site. During 1993, no new minim activities with the potential of creating
detectable impacts occasred in the vicinity of this site.
Currently this spring is required to be monitored quarterly far flaws aryl field
parameters; annually for water quality. Z!]is asrent monitoring is regrn~ired only
as a result of this feature's stardirg as an adjudicated water riot within the
permit area. No mine related impacts can reasonably be expected to occur at this
site given the mining oar~leted to date. As oc~ared to carrxpnt requirements,
four monitoring omissions ooauz~ed during 1993; three flow aryl field parameter
visits were not a~iplished in 1993 aryl the required annual water quality sample
was omitted. These omissions are tempered by this site's remote location with
respect to mining activities completed to date and the presence of the
established pre-minvig database.
Spring & Pond 22:
Spring & Ford 22 overlies an area of the East Mine outside of the projected
subsidence zone given the extent of mining to date. A sufficient hydrology
database consisting of flow, water level, field ~,~,~wto,-, and water quality
information had been established prior to 1993 to define the pre-mining hydrology
at this location. During 1993, no r-ew mining activities with the potential of
creating detectable impacts ooaux~ed in the vicinity of Spring & Pond 22.
Currently this spring is not required to be monitored further until one year
prior to reinitiatirg development of the East Mine. As compared to an.-rent
regrn~irements, no monitaring omissions occurred during 1993; two additional water
level, flan, and field parameter visits occurred in 1993.
Spring & Pon3 5-1:
Spri.rg & Pond 5-1 lies outside the area of any potential mining impacts. Advance
mining in the closest proximity to this site took place in 1985 approximately
5600 feet distant fr<m the site. A sufficient hydrology database consisting of
flow, field para~+ar, and water quality information had been establi.shed for
this location prior to 1993 to define the pre-minimm hychrology at this site.
During 1993, no new mining activities with the potential of creating detectable
impacts occurred in the vicinity of this site.
Currently this spring is not required to be monitored further. Zhis spring has
been pPrmnPntly ~,~„~~ frwn the monitoring network. As oott~ared to current
requirements, rro monitoring omissions occa>rred during 1993; one additional flat
aryl field paranwrnr visit oocarx'red In 1993.
Spring & Pard 6-6:
Spring & Pond 6-6 lies outside the area of any potential minim impacts. Advance
minim i.n the closest pmx~mlty to this site took place in 1985 approximately
4600 feet distant frwn the site. 'ltlis site typically exhibited insignificant
