Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
On November 24, 2003, DMG approved AR-02, releasing 76.31 acres from the permit area for
successful completion of reclamation. Tailings ponds 1, 2 and 3 at the Mayflower facility were
included in the released lands. Sample sites BC-1, BC-2, SCTP3-1 and SCTP-2 were intended
to monitor drainage from those lands during mining and reclamation activities. It is appropriate
to discontinue monitoring drainage from lands that have been fully reclaimed and released from
reclamation liability. Reduction of the hydrologic monitoring program to discontinue monitoring
at BC-1, BC-2, SCTP3-1 and SCTP-2 was intended but not previously clarified. As of
November 24, 2003, monitoring requirements at the referenced sites was terminated.
Thank you for informing DMG of DWR finding activities conducted under TR-26 as being
exempt from well permit requirements.
Please contact me at the DMG Durango Office, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, CO
81301, phone (970) 247-5469, if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Wallace H.
