This exchange was approved by DMG. This project, designed to send mine
waters from 5-shaft to the water treatment system on the Tenmile side of the divide, would
construct a water pipeline and a surge pipeline from the shaft to a new dischazge vault neaz the
main gate. The 5-shaft pump station is considered an environmental protection facility (EPF)
under the Climax environmental protection plan. As such, the Storke water retum system is a
modification to this existing EPF.
Enclosed are the construction drawings for the Storke water return system. Please note that
Climax has modified these plans from the initial concept to incorporate a surge tank rather than a
surge line. Thus, these plans replace any previous plans for this project on file at DMG. As
required, Climax will submit "as-builts" stamped by a Professional Engineer.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 719-486-2150, ext. 723.
Sincerely,
Bryce Rorrug,
Environmental Manag
Climax Molybdenum Company, Climax Mine
cc: R.
