This map
' outlines both the Rito Seco drainage area and the Culebra Creek
drainage area from the mine site to below San Luis. The tailings
disposal area drains to the west and then south into the Cerro
Ditches No. 1 and 2 and Culebra Creek. A topographic high located
in the south central portion of the San Luis property is the drainage
,divide between this drainage and the Rito Seco.
~«
' "~~~ In addition, the Soil Conservation Service in conjunction with the
~'°~`c U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has constructed a 100 year flood control
diversion berm around the town of San Luis. In interviews with Mr.
Gus Gomez and Mr. Gilbert Mondragon of the San Luis office of the
' Soil Conservation Service they indicated that this berm acts to
prevent all large storms up to and including the 100 year storm from
flowing through the town of San Luis.
1
