APPENDIX- A
Attached are work sheets that are obtained as part of Soil Conservation Service,
Engineering Division, Technical Release 55, The sheets were used to make
calculations of estimates of the runoff of a 10-yr 24-hr storm event from the two
subbasins above the planned waste rock dump. A map is included to show the
subbasins and the berm segments to be constructed to divert the flows of the two
subbasins azound the waste rock pile. Since the outflow of the subbasins intersect the
berms at sharp angles, the intersection areas of the berms will be armored with riprap.
The channels created by the berms will be approximately 8 ft wide by at least 2 ft
deep, which will be capable of handling the calculated estimated peak discharges of:
Subbasin 1=0.56 cfs
Subbasin 2=1.36 cfs

LJ
