1
' COMMENT BY JAMES STE'JENS
' 1. Consideration should be given to ndding samples of the leak detection system to
the bi-weekly sampling program. 77ris funs previously done on q monthly basis,
but with the increase in cyanide levels in dre pond, a higher sampling frequency
seenu reasonable.
RESPONSE: Given the extremely low levels of flow reporting to the leak d@tection system,
' there is no basis for a higher sampling frequency.
2. Well M-2 is listed for bot/t bi-weekly and quatterly santplittg peripd. It should be
' removed from the quarterly list.
RESPONSE: It is proposed that well M-2 be sampling on a bi-weekly basis; however, it is also
included during the quarterly sampling of all surface water and ground water
' monitoring points. BMR believes that the sample list should reirlain as shown in
the protocol document (see Response to Harry Posey's Commant No. 4 in the
' "Page-by-Page Comments" section).
3. As a reasonable extra precaution to increase dte accuracy of sagrple results and
' eliminate any possible effects of corttnnrination by equipntend, the sampling
sequence should be front those monitoring points historically ha.vdng lower values
' of cyanide to those having higher levels.
RESPONSE: Please see Section 2.2.8 of the Protocol Document (First paragraph at the top of
' Page 15), which proposes this exact protocol.

1
~~

' -15-
1
