Johnston
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Bench Slump
Permit C-81-047
Dear Ms. Johnston:
III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
RECEIVED
MAR 2 6 1993
Division ct m~ne~sis z=:ieology
Page 113i of the permit requires that the upland slope (stabilized
mine bench) above Hubbard Creek be checked annually after snowmelt
to determine if the area is in a stable configuration. During a
March 23, 1993 inspection, it was noted that a portion of the
stabilized mine bench had slumped.
Because the face of the bench is completely saturated, the repair
cannot be performed for some time. The 1988 and 1989 slumps were
repaired during July and October respectively. The working
conditions for the 1989 repair were more favorable than in 1988
because the cover material had dried more thoroughly.
A plan which will outline the corrective measures to be taken and
how and when the area is to be repaired will be submitted to the
Division by the end of June. I anticipate that the repair work
will be performed during September or October.
Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
., ~~~
" Jim Stover, P.E.
Chief Engineer
