Included with <br />this soil in mapping are small areas of soils that have <br />a surface layer of sandy loam and some areas in which <br />shale or sandstone is at a depth of d0 to 6D inches. <br />Also included are smalt areas of Fort Collins, Rim, and <br />Larimer soils. The Stoneham series consists of deep, <br />well drained soils thar, formed in mixed alluvial and <br />wind-deposited material. Tyoi tally, the surface layer <br />is a loam about 3 inches r,h ick. The, upper part of the <br />subsoil is a clay loam about 5 inches thick. The lower <br />part is a loam about 4 inches thick. The susbtratum is <br />a loam extending t.o 60 inches or more. Permeability <br />is moderate, and the mailable water capacity is hiyh. <br />Reaction is neutral above a depth of about 1D inches <br />and moderately alkaline helow t;:at depth. Runoff is <br />medium, and the hazard of erosion is moderate. This <br />unit is a Loamc Plains ranye sire. Capability unit is <br />IIIe-2 Irriga t.ed, IVe-3 Dryland <br />Page 12 <br />
