RECLAMA?ION ?LAN
with a fast growing grass mixture discussed more fully under REVE('Ei'ATION in
. this exhibit.
Rk~ERATION: Reveget-.tion of this site is considered to have an average
feasibility potential under average weather conditions. In wet years the
potential increases. This is due to a combination of slope gradients, slope
aspect, and the nature of the growth medium. In above average moisture years
the sandy soils are not as limiting as they are in average or below average
years.
Planting will occur in either the spring oz the fall of the year. If it
occurs in the spring the planting dates can be as eazly as February but should
not be later than May 15 or reduced success will occur and secondary seeding
may be needed. IE planting occurs in the Eall it will not occur earlier than
Clctober 1 or later than December 1. Although seeding can occur between
December 1 and February 1 it is not recomrended, especially on south facing
slopes.
The seed mixture will be either broadcast or drilled. The method used
will be at the discretion of the permittee. The following seed mixture is
. designed for broadcasting. If the seed is to be drilled, then the amount of i
seed should be divided ty two.
SOLPERG pIT SEEDING - EROADCAST RATES (DIVIDE BY 2 FOR DRILLING)
SPECIES PLS lb/acre seeds/lb seeds/sgft
WESTERN WHEATGRASS 6 126000 17.3
SIDEOATS GRAMA 9 143000 13.1
BLUE GRAMA 1 711000 16.3
LITTLE BLUESTEYI Z 225000 10.3
GREEN NEEDLDGRASS 3 181000 12.9
INTERMEDIATE WHEAT. 5 97000 11.1
REX~2Er:IV 15 75000
36 1558000 80.7
The seed mixture shown above includes 15 pounds per acre of Regreen (a
sterile hybrid of winter wheat and a native wheatgrassl• This is used as a
cover crop to help control erosion in the early stages of vegetation
development.
