If beakers are needed to top off the sample bottle, I recommend rinsing the beakers with
the well discharge water (the same water being sampled) prior to filling them to pour into the
sample container.
4. Step 3. The sample label should include the analysis to be conducted (DIMP).
5. Step 4. Preservation also includes keeping the sample in the dark.
6. Step 5. Since decontamination occurs ~ rinsing, it may be clearer to phrase this step as,
"Decontaminate all the sampling equipment by rinsing 3 times.... Equipment should also be
immediately dried with paper towels.
7. To Step 10, add a time limit for delivering the sample to the laboratory. The time limit should be
well within the maximum holding time for the sample.
8. With the final bullet, you may want to include asking the owner to inform you when the well was
fast and/or will be chlorinated.
9 Sample Delivery
Reiterate the time limit (from Section 6, Step 10) for delivering the sample to the laboratory. Note
the maximum holding time for the sample.
Please propose how long after initiating dewatering that the second well sample would be collected.
Thank you for your attention to these matters.
