Long <br />Drvisian Director <br />During a review of our Summit County files, the following matter has come <br />to the attention of the Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG): <br />The Mined Land Reclamation Board (MLRB) approved the above referenced <br />permit application on May 15, 1990. A permit for the Stillson Patch <br />Placer was never issued because Colorado Mining and Smelting, Inc. did not <br />provide the required financial and performance warranties. MLRB <br />regulations specify that if financial and performance warranties are not <br />received within one calendar year of approval of an application for any <br />new permit, the MLRB shall hold a hearing to reconsider the previous <br />approval. Such a hearing will be convened during the December, 1996 <br />meeting of the MLRB on December 18-19, 1996 beginning at 9:00 a.m. each <br />day in Room 318, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado. Due to the extreme length of time that has transpired since the <br />Stillson Patch Placer permit application was approved, the DMG will be <br />recommending at the hearing that the previous approval be rescinded. <br />Colorado Mining and Smelting, Inc. will have the opportunity to be <br />represented and heard on this matter. The Division will be conducting a <br />site inspection prior to the hearing. <br />If Colorado Mining and Smelting, Inc. is no longer interested in <br />maintaining the approved application for the Stillson Patch Placer, please <br />provide DMG with a letter withdrawing the application from consideration. <br />In this way, a hearing before the MLRB could be avoided. <br />If you have any questions, please contact me. <br />Sincerely, J <br />~~~ <br />tom' ~~~---- <br />Allen C.
