No. CV-98-003
Dear Mr. Kaldenbach:
This letter serves to inform you that the steps required to abate NOV CV 98-003 have been
completed. The additional freeboard required for sedimentation pond No Name #4 was added.
Fill material added was applied in shallow lifts and was watered and compacted in accordance
with good constnlction practices. The embankment was surveyed on June 11 and the existence
of adequaze freeboard (> one foot) was verified. The disturbed area was seeded by hand
broadcasting.
The spillway to No Name #5 sedimentazion pond has been repaired of the flood damage incurred
in late March. Rock fill was placed in the void caused by the erosion and the spillway was
reshaped. The disturbed area was seeded by hand broadcasting.
It was not found necessary to divert flows from West Pyeatt drainage and pit pumpage into West
Pyeatt was never required. Given the unusual nature of the flooding in West Pyeatt drainage, as
documented in my April 9 letter to you, and given that much of the Hawker Pit disturbance
upstream of West Pyeatt ponds will be reclaimed this summer, no changes to the West Pyeatt
sediment control design are necessary.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Forrest Luke
Environmental Manager
FVL
IG:/dmg/noeabelel
c File 109.2.3.4
P.O.
