Renner
Mined Land Reclamation Division
„ ~...
423 Centennial Building ~%~~'~ ~' I~~~"~
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colcrado 80203 -. _ ,
Re: Request for Extension of Abatement Date for
NOV-C-86-022 Your File C-600-80 -
Dear Mr. Renner:
Pursuant to the provisions of Rule 5.03.2Cc)<iv) Kerr Coal
Company hereby requests an extension of the abatement date
specified in NOV-C-86-022 for repair/replacement of alluvial well
AO-2. The above referenced violation requires abatement as
follows:
"All damaged or destroyed wells must be replaced with
existing or new wells. The operator shall consult
with the Division prior to implementing this step. Each
replacement well is to be within 1/4 mile of the original
well. In addition each replacement well is to be completed
in the same lithologic zone as the original well. On or
before June 15, 1986. Monitoring as per the approved
permit is to begin no later than June 15, 1986. The
results of this monitoring shall be submitted to the
Division by June 20, 1986".
Due to normal climatic conditions combined with the location
of alluvial well AO-2 in the bottom of Bush Draw, access to the
site prior to June 15 is questionable, and would most likely
result in environmental harm substantially greater than the
benefit of acquiring data by June 15 rather than a month or ttvo
later. Due to this circumstance, Kerr Coal Company hereby
requests that the abatement date for repair of alluvial well AO-2
be extended until July 31, 1986. We would also request that the
date for submittal of monitoring data from well AO-2 be extedned
to August 31, 1986 in order to allow ample time for the sample to
be analyzed, the data transmitted to this office and then
transmitted to your office.
