M-2000-016, Lafarge West, Inc.: Riverbend Operation, AM-01
Adequacy Memo No. 6
September 6, 2005
Page 2
• West of Phase 1, to protect vegetation east and west of the river, and in particular, the
eagle roost site identified on the Overall Extraction Plan map, west of the river (two
wells).
Monitoring east of the river, in or near Well Nos. 5889/5990.
• Between the two monitoring wells (R101-MW05 and R101-MW07) on the east side of
Phase 4.
• Between monitoring wells R101-MW06 and R101-MW02 on the south side of Phase 2,
and east of the tributary to Big Dry Creek/Lupton Bottom Ditch.
• Between R101-MW02 and the southwest permit boundary comer of Phase 2.
• Two wells along the north side of Phase 2, centered on the north borders of each of cells
1 and 2.
• Monitoring in or near Well No. 232943, northeast of R101-MW05.
• Monitoring in or near Well No. 166447, if east of the river, or another nearby well east of
the river.
• Three wells along the east side of Phase 3, including one east of the river.
Three wells along the west side of phase 3 (not at the southwest comer of the cell,
unless providing 4 wells).
• One well between the two monitoring wells (CH West and South) on the south side of
Phase 5, cells 2 and 3. Are the CH West and CH South wells monitoring wells?
Three wells along the west boundary of Phase 5, Cell 5 -one near the southwest corner
(regarding Well No. 90574 and others), one to protect a probable unregistered well at the
structures at the western boundary, and one near the northwest corner. Additionally, one
or more wells should be added along the southern boundary between the suggested
southwest comer well and CH West Well.
• Well No. 72813 must be monitored, or one inside the boundary opposite it.
• If Lafarge is not the owner of record for Well No. 7280, please arrange to monitor this
well, or one near it and east of the river, if this well is east of the river as represented on
the map.
Provide two monitoring wells east of Phase 6, between DS03-MW07 and S02-MW06. At
least one more northedy and east of the river to monitor area cottonwoods.
• Two wells between MY03-MW01 and MF03-MW01 along the west side of Phase 7.
• Well No. 12790 must be monitored, or three monitoring wells placed along the permit
boundary between MF03-MW02 and DS03-MW04, including one near the boundary
comer.
• Two monitoring wells between DS-3-MW04 and the northeast comer of Phase 9.
• Two wells -one well each between MF03-MW01 and DS03-MW03 and DS03-MW02.
2. The Division identified proposed monitoring locations based upon the well locations and
probable well locations shown on the Maximum Disturbance Maps. Since unregistered wells
were not identified and the registered wells were not field located, but by well permit records that
may only have '/.-'/.location information, alternate and/or additional locations may be necessary.
Therefore, please field locate all wells within 200 feet of the affected area boundary and also
Well Permit Nos. 13697 and 12790, and all wells identified in Item 1 of this memo.
3. Since Well Permit No. 13697 is expected to be unusable during the life of Phase 6 Cell 1, a
written agreement with the owner of Well Permit No. 13697 must be obtained prior to approval of
this amendment, even though the applicant reports the owner does not object to this permit.
4. Well Permit No. 12790, based upon the location for the well shown on the Maximum Disturbance
map for Zone 3, shows an expected water level decline of 10 feet. A letter from the well owner
places the well at approximately 50 feet from the boundary where a 21-foot drop is predicted.
