During this phone call Phil requested a one month, or one month plus one week extension on <br />pumping cease order included with NOV 97-022. He states that MCC is in the process of lining <br />ponds FW-1 and MB-I to mitigate the facilities area slide. He states that MCC needs to pump to <br />the sumps to allow the lining to occur. He states that the mine cannot dischazge from Lone Pine <br />because the water level in the mine sump has not yet reached the pump level, but the water will <br />be at the discharge level soon. He indicates that the water level is within a few inches of the <br />dischazge level. He indicates that once the water reaches the Lone Pine level, MCC can probably <br />keep pace with inflows which are averaging about 400gpm. Phil states that the water is rising <br />about'/" per week in mine sump. <br />Phil states that the water at the upgradient end of the sump is 64F. <br />I asked for about temperature at pipe exit/sump entrance. Phil said he would check. I also asked <br />for percent increase to sump if pumping continues through December. Phil said he would check. <br />2.) Phil wants latest Stover letters. I said I would send them. <br />3.) Phil wants to be present during future sampling at slide and wants updates regazding slide <br />status. <br />4.) Phil wants to be at future Bear Mine inspections. <br />5.) Phil asked about the status of the PHC review, and 1 told him that it is in review. <br />
