The spillway channel is approximately 3 feet deep, therefore, 1.55 feet of
freeboard exists between the embankment crest and the peak stage of the 100-
year, 24-hour event.
Flow velocity (V) through the spillway is calculated by the following relationship:
V = Q/A
Where: V =flow velocity (fps)
Q =peak discharge from the 100-year, 24-hour event (cfs)
A =cross sectional area of flow (ft~
~ ~~ ,
V = 16.36 ft'/sec = 1.53 fps
10.66 ftz ,~ ~ n`~
~ ;,
The channel bottom is presently lined with rock adequate to prevent erosion for
such low flow velocitites.
Pond 5/6. Pond 5/6 employs a 48-inch corrugated metal pipe (CMP) riser with
a 30-inch diameter CMP barrel extending through the and embankment as its
1
outlet structure. The riser pipe contains a 4-inch diameter orifice located
approximately 6-feet below the riser invert, and two 2-inch diameter orifices with
their inverts located approximately 5-inches below the riser invert. Th~.~iser
invert is located approximately 4-feet below the embankment crest.
r
~~
~~5ii
~ v
~~
16
