Ditch designs are summarized in Figure 1, Permanent Ditch Design Summary.
Ditch locations are shown on the Reclaimed Topography (1990) 8 Bond
Release Documentation Map.
Ponds
Ponds 2 and 5/6 will remain following final reclamation and bond release, and
will function as stock watering ponds. Previous studies have demonstrated that
the existing pond configurations meet all requirements for permanent
impoundments in accordance with 4.05.9 and 4.05.17 of the CMLRD Rules and
Regulations. Outlet structures have been designed to safely pass the peak
discharge from the 100-year, 24-hour event providing adequate freeboard.
Pond 2. Pond 2 employs a trapezoidal channel with a 3-foot bottom width and
3H:1V sideslopes as its outlet structure. The channel spillway has been
excavated through virgin material along the pond's west side. The spillway was
designed utilizing the Side Contracted Weir equation as follows:
Q = 3.1 b,.°~H,.° 1
(J l~
Where: O =Peak discharge from the 100-year, 24-hour event (cfs)
b =bottom width (ft)
H =flow depth through weir (ft)
Solving for H:
3.ib'°' J
_ C3.1~~0~
= 1.45 ft.
14
