SEDCAD+ sedimentology inputs
Inputs to the sedimentology component of the SEDCAD+ computer model
include:
• Particle Size Distribution
• Runoff Volume
• Peak Discharge
• Soil Erodibility Factor
• Representative Slope Length
• Average Slope
• Control Practice Factor
• Sediment Specific Weight
Particle Size Distrihution. SEDCAD+ provides a default particle size
distribution for both undisturbed and disturbed soils. These default distributions
were derived using a number of gradation curves from around the Unked States
for disturbed and undisturbed soils. They are intended to be typical
representative curves.
The default distribute esenting undisturbed soils was utilized for this
.,~' .
~~~a valuate n actual particle size distribution specific to the Grassy Creek Mine
~ y Dc
,~~ ~ ~ 6 a is not required for this evaluation since the sedimentology results are used only
~ ~s °~~ ~' as a relative comparison between premine and postmine conditions.
4
~~~ Runott Volume, V. Runoff volume is calculated by SEDCAD+ as previously
described in the SEDCAD+ Calculations portion of the Hydrology section, and
is considered to be an internal input.
Peak Discharge, ~,. Peak discharge is calculated internally within the
SEDCAD+ program as previously described, and is considered to bean internal
input.
10
