• <br />Mountain Coal Company <br />West Elk Mine #C-80-007 <br />NOV No. C-93-006 <br />March 3, 1993 <br />REQUIREMENTS <br />34-33-121(2)(a) <br /> <br />Adopt measures consistent with known technology in order to prevent <br />subsidence causing material damage to the extent technologically <br />and economically feasible, maximize mine stability, and maintain <br />the value and reasonable foreseeable use of such surface lands, <br />except in those instances where the mining technology used requires <br />planned subsidence in a predictable and controlled manner; except <br />that nothing in this subsection (2) shall be construed to prohibit <br />the standard method of room and pillar mining; <br />34-33-122(1) <br />Inspections and monitoring. (1) For the purposes of administering <br />and enforcing any permit under this article or of determining <br />whether any person is in violation of any requirement of this <br />article, the board shall require permittees to establish and <br />maintain records of information relative to surface coal mining and <br />reclamation operations which the board deems necessary in order for <br />it or the division to monitor such operations. <br />2.05.6(6)(c)(i)(E) <br />(c) Subsidence Monitoring Program <br />(i) The monitoring program shall be designed to determine the <br />commencement and magnitude of subsidence movements which <br />occur and shall include the following monitoring <br />techniques: <br />(E) Results of the monitoring program shall be submitted <br />to the Division at least semi-annually <br />Mountain Coal Company Permit-Page 2.05-147 <br />Subsidence monitoring reports are submitted on a semi-annual basis <br />in a format approved by the Division. <br />
