BATTLE MTN. GOLD SL ID~719-672-3363
OCT 14'93 13 51 No.019 P.02
A water sample was Collected from the overflow water onded
in the mill area. The Division received a split of t is
sample. The sample was shipped to Core Laboratories or
cyanide (total and wad) analysis. The final analysis report
showed the cyanide concentrations to be below groundw ter
and drinking water standards, 0.16 ppm CN-wad and 0.1 ppm
CN-total (see attached report).
Four soil samples were collected of the clay where th~
overflow water ponded within the tailings disposal ar a.
Also, two soil samples were collected where the overf ow
water ponded in the mill area. The samples were ship ed to
Core Laboratories for cyanide (total and wad) analysi The
analysis reports will be submitted to the Division.
Although elQVating and moving the line was a one time event
specific to the tailings construction project, BMRI h s
taken additional pre-cautions against similar situati ns in
the future. The reclaim line is being relocated such that a
constant l~ grade from the tank to the tailings facil ty
will be maintained to allow the line to free-drain to tails.
Thus, reclaim water will not be able to move back up he
line to the mill area. Also, a policy o£ locking out the
reclaim pumps while work on the reclaim tank overflow line
is being performed has been established. Each time w rk is
performed on the line, the line will be walked to ins ect
outer pipe couplings.
If you have any questions, please call.
Sincerely,

Alana L.
