RECLAMATION PLAN
The post-mining plan allows the pit to flood and the border of the lake to be reclaimed as
wetland. Also the land surrounding the permit area will be topsoiled and seeded to control
erosion. Prior to flooding all earthwork and seeding will take place. Mining slopes will be near
vertical. The slopes will be reclaimed to 3H:1 V by dozing the upper highwall down towards the
pit bottom. The remainder of the cut/fill balance will be made up from excess overbwden and
imported materials. The imported materials will be inert. They will be imported from the
adjacent production facility. A majority ofthe imported materials will be reclaimed asphalt and
concrete. All concrete with exposed rebaz will be buried a minimum of 3' from the surface.
Imported material greater the 2" in diameter will only be used in slope reclamation not in the
replacement of the buffer between Amendment #1 and Amendment #2. To further enhance
wetland growth, the ramp used to get in and out of the pit will be left at 7H:1 V for a width of
approximately 24 feet.
Fow major tasks will occur at the end of mining: Final Grading, Buffer Replacement,
Topsoiling, and Seeding/Revegetation. The site is expected to have 1500 feet of highwall left at
the end of mining. The cross-sectional area to be moved is 300 square feet. This results in
17,000 CYD to be moved. The material will be moved using a D8 or equivalent dozer. Once
final grading has been completed the 1500 feet of highwall will need to be topsoiled. The buffer
will be installed as seen in Map F. The buffer will have a 50' wide bench on top with 3H:1 V side
slopes. It will be replaced using 2" minus material only. This will help to enswe the 90%
maximum dry density compaction of all buffer material. The compaction will be completed in
small 12" lifts. Also all compaction will be measwed to enswe that the specification of 90% is
met. Once the buffer installation and highwall grading ~s complete, both slopes and flat areas
will be topsoiled with a minimum of 6" of material to a elevation 5' below the expected water
table. Once all earthwork has been completed the entire Amendments #1, #2, and #3 will be
revegetated as wetland or dry rangeland. The total area remaining is 15.58 acres. 1.25 acres will
be revegetated as wetland fringe, and 14.33 will be revegetated as dry rangeland.
For both the dryland and wetland areas, the soil will be disced to loosen the soil. Due to the
mild grade, seed can be drilled in both regions. Certified weed free mulch will be crimped into
the surface at 20001bs per acre for the dry rangeland areas. The areas will be seeded with the
following seed mixes, which were recommended by the NRCS for the nearby Fredlund Pit, west
of the site.
JAN 1 22004
~a . r~3a ;
t+ tef °s6a~,~evmut 3 ,~,~
Pit No. 1 1/04
