_~

Regarding other matters discussed in your letter, I have sent via fax at least o different
times copies of the June 1 -June 30 detailed summary of expenses to th Division. I
have enclosed another copy with this letter. Please let me know if yo need more
information for this or any other period of time.
I do apologize for the delay in the past sampling trip. I have traveled moron business
this summer than any other time in my life and just could not physically d the trip. I
did the third and fourth monitoring trips relatively close together because knew I had
an inordinate amount of travel coming up. I was able to set up a samplin trip for two
days after the end of the last period, but apparently this was unacceptable t BMRI. In
light of the long delay in receiving sampling results from Core Labs in the ast, I really
didn't think this was a significant delay, but I was obviously mistaken. I do ope that we
can finish up the last of the monitoring trips to everyone's satisfaction, and have called
Alana Scott to set up a trip for the week of October 11.
As we discussed briefly at Snowmass, I do feel it would be a good idea to have a final
summary report that looked at possible trends in the data and made some final
conclusions and recommendations in a form that would be easily accessible o the public
and the Board. I was unclear from your letter whether you would like m to write to
BMRI and suggest that I write a final report. I assume that you w uld be the
intermediary on that, but let me know if I should write them directly.
Please let me know if you need more information than what I have suppli d above. I
look forward to the successful completion of this project -- it has bee a learning
experience for all. I just hope that the difficulties encountered in this firs third-party
monitoring experience wiii serve to make future sitniiar projects run more moothiy.
Sincerely,
a~~,~-
Ann Maest, Ph.D.
Senior Scientist
2
