MANAGEMENT
FiECEIVEQ
JUN 3 0 2005
Uivisiort •f Minerals and Ceoiogy
On behalf of Minrec, Inc., I offer the following discussion relative to the referenced notice of
violation.
Aeration Ditch
The aeration ditch which is one half of a 12 inch diameter pipe has a capacity of about 160
gallons per minute with freeboard. The typical flow rates seen by the aeration ditch are less
than 30 gallons per minute. The alignment of the pipe sections can be affected by wildlife
and domestic stock which can reduce the capacity of the ditch. The ditch can also become
partially filled with moss and grass.
As a result of recent problems with the aeration ditch, Minrec proposes to construct a berm
along the south site of the aeration ditch. The berm will direct any flow that escapes the
aeration ditch to the long pond. The berm will be at least one foot high.
Pond T-2 Emergency Sgillway
Drawing D-2-5 shows an open channel between treatment pond T-2 and pond P-9. Minrec
proposes to construct the open channel between treatment pond T-2 and pond P-9 to
function as the emergency spillway for pond T-2. Pond P-9 is approved as a treatment pond
so having mine water directed to pond P-9 should not be a problem. The four inch diameter
emergency spillway(s) from pond T-2 will be abandoned.
Please call with any questions.
Sincerely,
~Lc
"J. E.
