Section 4: Requested Revisions to Approved Resolution
Stipulation #2 listed in Case #PRJ2001-00060 reads:
The Conditional Use Permit shall expire on March 18, 2007.
Lafarge is submitting this request for major amendment to extend the expiration date to
March 18, 2012. This is due to the fact that preparatory activities were not able to begin
at this site until October 2005 due to a number of factors, including economic conditions
and delays at our nearby Mann Lake Pit. Lafazge is still committed to completing this
project within a 5-yeaz window as originally approved by Adams County, but this amount
of time must be allowed to complete the project as originally presented and approved.
Since Lafarge plans to work diligently at Mann Lake during 2006, mining and processing
of material at Stagecoach is not scheduled until early 2007.
Lafarge is also submitting an updated Site Plan and Reclamation Plan with this request
for major amendment. Lafarge has reached an agreement with Albert Frei & Sons that
will allow Lafarge to mine up to the property line on the north end of Stagecoach Pit, and
to continue mining the southernmost end of Frei's property within their permitted mine
limit. This will allow creation of one water storage vessel combining mine cells of
approximately 34 acres at Stagecoach, and approximately 10 acres on the southernmost
portion of Frei's property. Frei maintains the responsibility for required permits on
property they own including County and DMG approvals. .
Lafarge has received approval of a Technical Revision by DMG of the updated mining
and reclamation plans on its property. Frei is in the process of obtaining the required
permit updates for the property it owns.
The addition of the Frei property to the mining plans associated with Stagecoach does not
affect the plans to complete mining within a 5-year window. It also does not affect
Lafazge's ability to complete this project under the approved stipulations in the approved
CUP.
Lafazge is not requesting any additional changes to the CUP at this time.
