As a response to your request
for a written action plan to address the Division's immediate concerns, Colorado Mazble,
Inc., proposes the following action items be undertaken immediately at the site.
1) Taylor Gulch-sediments from mazble screening operations now located within
Taylor Gulch will be removed from the drainage and placed in the pit area. A
best effort will be made to grade back to the original surface horizon. An
estimated up to 300 cubic yazds of material may be handled in this task.
2) Taylor Gulch Drainage vs. mine site drainage--- Taylor Gulch drainage must be
kept sepazate from mine site drainage via re-grading of mine staging azeas that
allow mine azea run-off into Taylor Gulch drainage. This includes the public
access road crossing Taylor Gulch along the eastern side of the disturbed land
area. This road crossing will be modified to allow for unrestricted flow of Taylor
Gulch through this area without moving through processed fines materials and
carrying the fine sediment into Taylor Gulch.
3) The sediment trap structure constructed in Taylor Gulch last fall will be
maintained in place for the present time, but should not be considered a
permanent stmcture. The existing structure will be removed from Taylor Gulch
as soon as the drainage and sedimentation concerns immediately up-gradient aze
addressed and proving to be effective in eliminating sedimentation into Taylor
Gulch. Sediment controls along the southern portion of the affected land will be
addressed in the permit amendment. The preferred plan for Taylor Gulch long
term is for unrestricted flow throughout all reaches of the mine site.
