There is a lance
stockpile of material located on the pit floor, apparently to be drawn. upon in the future as
material is needed by the County. An electric fence extends alcrg the western boundary of the
permit area which coincides with the HigY.way 142 right-of-way. The fence is reportedly owned
and maintained by Quinlan Farms and Ranches who is the indicated c~.rner of the croperty
Immediately adjacent to the permit area on the north.
There has been no effort on the part of the County to minimize the effects of runoff from the
disturbed areas of the pit to the quality of kcal surface water. In the County's adern~acy
response dated June 30, 1999 (See attached material), the County committed to employ measures
such as ditch liner, flexible pipe and hay check dam to control runoff from the site. Some
effort in regard co this adequacy concern should be made. This is a compliance problem that
will be included on Pace 4 of this report
c: Mr. .Kenneth Hershey
HCR 30, Hox 12
Mesita, CO 81152
I & E Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Ms. Elizabeth Pacheco, County Adminstrator ^ BL
OPERATOR Cost ilia County ^ FS
STREET 352 Main St. ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP San Luis, CO 81152 ^ HMW[•ID (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
