Pits)
Hazeltine Pit #2 (M77153)
Road Runners Rest Pit (M79195)
1. On November 9, 2001, a memo was sent to your agency providing
comments on the status of the above referenced gravel pits and their
compliance with this agency's statutory requirements. Subsequent to
that memo, work priorities were shifted that precluded completion of
the referenced substitute water supply plans. Additional resources
have been recently assigned to complete these plans in a timely
manner.
2. We have held meetings with the water consultant and have held
telephone conversations with the applicant's attorneys resulting in the
submission of supplemental information. This information will enable
DWR staff engineers to complete our evaluation.
3. Initial review of the plans are favorable as are the obligations by the pit
owners, the Denver Water Board, should additional replacement water
be needed in case of the dewatering pumps fail or if more operational
replacement water be needed. This agency considers the two gravel
pits to be in substantial compliance with our statutes, rules and
regulations and completion of the gravel pit substitute water supply
plan approval letters are expected within two weeks.
File: DMGmemoM79195M77153
