Box 458, Ridgway, CO 81432-0168 SEC 3, T45N, RBW, NMPM, Ougar COUNTY, CO <br />PHONE: 970 8T8. 6391 AYCNDYlNT APPLICATION - R!D t t2 OPlR CONST MAT'L <br />NO CHANGES TO THE CURRENT PERMIT M 1878.268 CxNIDIT '1', "SOILS INFORMATION°, coPl[D DlLOw (See Current Permit <br />for auxiliary attachments) <br />"The soil type found in the vicinity of the existing gravel pit mining <br />operation has been mapped and identified by the Natural Resources <br />Conservation Service (formerly known as the Soil Conservation Service) as <br />Aqua Fria cobbly loam, 15 to 60$ slopes, and mapped as Unit 40E. <br />"This deep, well-drained soil is on structural benches, mesas and <br />alluvial fans. It formed in residuum and alluvium derived dominantly <br />from sedimentary and igneous rocks. The native vegetation is mainly <br />trees, shrubs and grasses. Elevation is 6000 to 7200 feet. <br />"Typically the surface layer is brown cobbly loam 4 inches thick. The <br />subsoil is reddish brown clay loam 14 inches thick. The substratum to a <br />depth of 60 inches or more is pink loam. In some areas the surface layer <br />is loam. <br />"Included in this unit are small areas of Curecanti and Sunburst. Also <br />included are small areas of soils with more than 3S~ coarse fragments in <br />the control section. Included areas make up about 15~ of the total <br />acreage. <br />"Permeability of this Aqua Fria soil is moderately slow. Available water <br />capaacity is high. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. Runoff <br />is medium to rapid, and the hazard of water erosion is very high. This <br />unit is used for livestock grazing and wildlife habitat. <br />"This map init is capability subclass VIIe, non-irrigated. Zt is in <br />Loamy Foothills range site.
