WATER INFORMATION EXN181T G
FEBRUARY, 2003 Rules 8 Regs 8.4.7
OURAYCOUNTY ROAD b BRIDGE DEPT
P. O. BOx 468, Ridgway, CO 81432-0168
PHONE: 970 82B- 5391 -FAX: 628.4/39 "
°DALLAS GRAVEL° PeRN1T N°- M 7978.268
Sce 3, T45N, RBW, NMPM, OullAr CouNTV, CO
AYCNONENT AVYLICATION - RCG N2 OVeR CONST MAT'L
f1 a4~R11
The operation is not expected to affect the groundwater system at the site. The deep granular soils and steep
terrain preclude the occurrence of the groundwater table aim r~u anywhere in the near-surface zone of the
material extraction.
r4 e.~.~Rl Ntll
Intermittant drainages evident from the pre-mining condition seldom exhibt any stormwater or snowmelt
runoff, due to the increased absorbency of the area surface by exposing the granular soil in the extraction
processes.
rs 6.asR1 ag
Downslope runoff on the finished excavated slopes shall be controlled by incorporating a forest access road
and two level end-to-end runoff control benches into the slope. The 12-foot wide, slightly insloping water
retention benches will effectively intercept and retain any downslope runoff to absorb into the granulaz soils
at the un-topsoiled bench. Specified "rough surface grading" should assist in that effort for better water
retention.
A water retainment/siltation pond shall be excavated below the area of mining disturbance into the un-
named intermittant drainage (herein called Middte Cree/2') that exits the southwest downslope side of the
site. This pond is designed to retain runoff or snowmelt from a 100-year storm event to normally prevent
off-site stormwater runoff, provide sediment settling, and allow surface water to percolate into the granular
subsoils surrounding the pond.
Due to already excavated portions of the current site approximately 6.07 acres of surface area have been
«pirated" from the un-named drainage to the north (herein called `North Cree/z"), to drain into the site-
affected `iLliddle Creek" drainage and thus downstream into the un-named south drainage (herein called
"South Creek". Easterly portions of the proposed site extend just to, but not into, the South Creek drainage.
Completion of the proposed extraction of materials shall increase that "pirated" area by only another 3.01
acres.
Relocation of the forest access road during proposed operations to across the upper slopes of the site shall
effectively intercept and divert the runoff from undisturbed portions of the watershed above the site to
whichever drainage (North Creek or Middle Creek) as seems appropriate to B.L.M. range managers. A road
culvert will be required across that road at the northeast corner of the site to divert that runoff to Middle
Creek. Otherwise the runoff shall be directed northerly via the road's right borrow ditch to the existing
"loop mart" and thus into the North Creek drainage.

File: El OurdyCOlDaIWSGravI112AmendAppl 24
OYL7i03
